The North Yorkshire Strategic Housing Partnership

Set up in May 2007 the North Yorkshire Strategic Housing Partnership brings together housing sections from all the local authorities in North Yorkshire - City of York Council, Craven District Council, Hambleton District Council, Harrogate Borough Council, North Yorkshire County Council, Richmondshire District Council, Ryedale District Council, Scarborough Borough Council and Selby District Council - and the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Park Authorities.

The partnership's role includes identifying and responding to key housing issues; agreeing and managing the delivery of strategic housing investment priorities; undertaking sub regional research; and encouraging both innovative and consistent sub regional working across North Yorkshire. It aims to deliver more good quality affordable homes, make better use of the existing housing stock and facilitate better, more accessible, housing services and choice for residents.

The work of the partnership is led by the Local Government North Yorkshire and York Housing Board which is made up of politicians from all the partner authorities - each with a voting right - and senior officers from the Home and Communities Agency who sit at the table in an advisory capacity.

Day to day support and administration is provided by a part-time Partnership Manager. Strategic and technical support comes from the North Yorkshire Chief Housing Officers Group and stakeholder involvement via the North Yorkshire Housing Forum.

The partnership also works closely with other key stakeholders including Housing Associations, planning officers, parish councils, the Northern Network of Travellers and the National Landlords Association.
